Mr. Dino J. Martone, Sr. of Methuen, formerly of Andover and beloved husband of Rita R. (Esile) Martone, died on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at the Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence. He was 75 years old.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on April 12, 1932, he was a beloved son of the late Decoroso and Rocka (Defrusha) Martone.
Mr. Martone was employed with Avco, which later became Textron, for many years and retired from the company in 1995. He was a US Air Force veteran, enlisting at Boston on February 19, 1952 and received his honorable discharge from Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio on February 18, 1956.
In his spare time, Mr. Martone played the trumpet and was a signer for many local bands.
Besides his beloved wife, Rita, he will be sorely missed by two daughters and one son-in-law; Deborah L. and her husband Richard Holt of Methuen and Deana R. Martone of Hillsboro, New Hampshire, one son and one daughter-in-law; Dino J., Jr. and his wife Soo Martone of Acton, three grandchildren; Ashley N. Holt, Amanda H. Martone and Jacqueline C. Martone, one brother and one sister-in-law; John and his wife Alda Martone of Naples, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated in the Corpus Christy Parish at Holy Rosary Church, Essex & Union Streets, Lawrence, on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Calling hours were held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home 390 North Main Street, Andover, Monday, April 14, 2008, from 4 to 8 PM. Burial was in West Parish Garden Cemetery, Andover.
