Mrs. Gwendolyn A. (Keirstead) West, of Medford and beloved wife of the late Ralph West, died on Sunday, April 13, 2008, at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. She was 90 years old.
Born in New Brunswick, Canada, on June 12, 1917, she was a beloved daughter of the late Howard and Alice M. (Davidson) Keirstead.
Mrs. West was a member of the Community Baptist Church of Medford for more than 50 years, serving the church as deacon and treasurer for many years. She had been a lunch mother for the Medford Public School system and a warden at the Medford Polls for many years. She also enjoyed making doll clothing and was a person whom always was there to help a person in need.
Gwen will be sorely missed by two loving sons and two daughters-in-law; Graham H. and his wife Susan M. West of Marshfield and Robert L. West and his wife Erin T. Riley of Rhinebeck, N.Y., one sister; Aileen LeGrand of Quebec, Canada, nine cherished grandchildren; Michael, Kim, Eric, Greg, Matthew, Andrew, James, Meghan and Briana, three dear great-grandchildren; Chad, Ethan and Dylan and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Paul, Jack and Dr. Eric Kierstead.
Her funeral service was celebrated in the Community Baptist Church, 470 Fulton Street, Medford, Thursday, April 17, 2008, at 11 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Visiting hours were Wednesday, April 16, 2008, from 4 to 8 PM in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford. Interment was private.
