Obituary

WORCESTER-Cornelius Carroll, 79, of Worcester, formerly of Auburn, died Saturday, April 12th in UMass Memorial Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret (Sullivan) Carroll; two daughters, Sheila E., wife of James P. Cunnion of Southbridge and Betty A., wife of Daniel R. Chviruk of Worcester; a son, Daniel M. Carroll of Worcester; a sister, Peggy Cronin of Kilbreain, Ireland, 6 grandchildren, Brian, Tori, Patrick, Brendan, Meaghan and Timothy and a great granddaughter, Alexa. A brother, Donal Carroll predeceased him.

He was born in Kilbreain, Killarney, County Kerry, Ireland the son of Daniel and Julia (Healey) Carroll, and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Carroll retired in 1980 from the City of Worcester, where he had worked for the Water Department. He will be remembered for his devotion to family, and as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather.

The funeral is Tuesday, April 15th, from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, April 14th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
