Obituary

John W. Sargent, 82 of Manchester, NH died Friday, April 11, 2008 in the Villa Crest Healthcare Center, Manchester. Mr. Sargent was born in Manchester on March 9, 1926 a son of the late Edward T. and Olive (Robie) Sargent. He had moved to Manchester in 2007, formerly living in Auburn, NH since 1940. Mr. Sargent served with the Army Air Force during WWII. He was employed as a tractor trailer driver for over 35 years, retiring from Coca Cola USA in Nashua. In addition, Mr. Sargent had worked as a tractor trailer driver for Roberts Express and Quinn Freightlines, both of Manchester. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #633 in Manchester, a member of the American Legion Post in Merrimack, NH and a member of the Longmeadow Congregational Church in Auburn. He enjoyed working on midget and supermodified race cars at local tracks with his son
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara A. Lovering of Manchester, two sons, James W. Sargent of Texas, and Brad L. Sargent of Auburn. He also leaves 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. Sargent was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Martha (Harris) Sargent on February 22, 2008 and by his son, Donald E. Sargent in 1990.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, memorial services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01710. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling arrangements.
