Ernest Edward Richards, 89, of Derry, NH formerly of Lunenburg, MA, died on Friday, April 11, 2008 at Parkland Medical Center in Derry. Born on January 25, 1919 in Clinton, MA, he was a son of the late Ernest F. and Myrtle (Helmond) Richards.
Mr. Richards enjoyed fishing and in his later years he enjoyed watching and feeding the birds. Mr. Richards enjoyed the presence of children.
He is survived by two sons, Ernest Nelson Richards, Sr. and his wife Maxine of Derry and Edward Francis Richards of Fitzwlliam, NH; one daughter, Ann Marie Cox and her husband James of Orange Park, FL. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jennifer, Ernest, James, and Scott and two great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Ernest III, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Richards was predeceased by his wife Phyllis (Christofono) Richards.
Visiting hours were held from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A funeral service was held on Wednesday at 10:00 in the funeral home. The interment followed in Woodlawn Cemetery in Clinton, MA.
