Billy Carlton Mobley, 78, of Tifton died Friday, April 11, 2008, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2008, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. Danny Ray will officiate with burial to follow at Mount Paron Cemetery in Alapaha. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 12, 2008, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Mobley was born on January 3, 1939 in Berrien County and was the son of Perlie Mobley and Laura Webb Mobley, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Alma Daniels. He was retired as a skilled laborer with the Georgia Department of Transportation and from Armour and Company and of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Mobley is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Billy Wayne and Marie Mobley of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Larry Gillespie of Washington, Geirgia; three grandchildren, Mitzi Phillips of Tifton, Rusty Mobley of Alamo and Jennifer Gillespie of Athens; seven great grandchildren; three step grandchildren, Alton Benefield of Tifton, Shane Benefield of Tifton and Adam Benefield of Tifton; a special friend, Effie Purvis of Vanceville; and care-giver, Jennifer Gaskins of Tifton.
