Gino Silvestri, age 78, a resident of Somerville for most of his life, died April 9th at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Marie A. (Buscanera) Silvestri. Born in S. Lucia, Abbruzzi, Italy, he was the son of the late Camillo and Concetta (D´Alfonso) Silvestri.
Mr. Silvestri was a retired self-employed business owner. For many years he owned and operated the Gino Silvestri Business Machine Co. which fixed and repaired machines and equipment used in the banking and business industries. Mostly devoted to his loving family, Gino enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Gino was a United Sates Army veteran of the Korean War and was also a former member of the Malden Lions Club.
In addition to his wife, Gino is survived by his children, Jean DePiano and her husband William of Reading, Linda O’Neil and her husband John of Revere, Robert Silvestri of Somerville and Paula Grasso and her husband Michael of Medford. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Garrett, William, Julia, Alex, Michael, Cameron, Gina and Luke. He is further survived by his longtime friend Carl Maiocco of Winchester. Gino was predeceased by his brother, the late Angelo Silvestri.
His funeral will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Monday, April 14th, at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St. Malden, at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 3 thru 7. Services will conclude with burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.
