
Calvin Padgett, 81, of Brookfield died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at New River Holiness Church in Berrien County. Charles Connell, nephew, and Joe Simpson, cousin, will officiate with burial to follow in New River Holiness Church Cemetery in Berrien County. Pallbearers will be Patrick Paige, Jimmy Cattell, Connie Hale, Buster Hale, Alvin Hale and Calvin Hale, all nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 11, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Padgett was born on September 16, 1926 in Marshall, Missouri and was the son of Zelmar Howard Padgett and Carrie Agnes Medley Padgett, both deceased. He was a retired service manager with Ferrell Gas Company in Dublin and a member of New River Holiness Church in Berrien County. He served in the Merchant Marines, the United States Air Force and the United States Marine Corps.
Mr. Padgett is survived by his wife, Alice McGhee Padgett of Brookfield; three daughters, Diane Hendricks of Dublin, Denese Swackhamer of Waterford, Michigan and Pamala Moberly of Lombak, Indonesia; one sister, Nadine Herndon of Marshall, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Andrew Swackhamer, Mariko Moore, Jason Hendricks, Alicin Hendricks, Evi Moberly, Mathew Moberly, Alysha Suppes and Logan Moberly; and two great great grandchildren.
