Virginia M. Melanson, 71, passed away at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford on April 8th, 2008. She was born in Cambridge on April 5th, 1937 to her parents Edward and Ethel (McFadden) Dwyer. Virginia was raised and educated in Somerville and has been a resident of Medford for the past 43 years. She was a homemaker who also worked as a lunch mother at the former Hervey School and the Brooks School in West Medford. Virginia and her family enjoyed spending the summer months at their house on Lake Attitash in Amesbury. She is survived by her husband, Stephen E. Melanson of Medford; her children, Joanne Ross and her husband Jay of Marblehead, Stephen E. Melanson II and his wife Diane of Medford and Brian W. Melanson of Upton; her grandchildren Daniel, Brendan, Ashley, Lauren and Samantha; and by her siblings, Edward Dwyer and his wife Marie of Winthrop and Thelma Iozzo of Burlington. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Virginia was predeceased by her son the late Jeffrey T. Melanson. Relatives & friends are invited to attend funeral services from the A.J. Breslin & Son Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden at Medford line on Friday April 11th at 8 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 9 AM. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday April 10th from 4-8 PM.
