Obituary

Aldea Poirier, 93, formerly of Manville, died Tuesday in Watsonville, CA. She was the wife of the late Edgar Poirier.
Born in Manville, she was a daughter of the late Joseph N. and Marie-Louise (Dupre) Savage. She resided in California for about 20 years, having previously lived most of her life in Woonsocket.
Mrs. Poirier was employed by several area textile mills and was a school cafeteria worker.
She was a member of the AARP and was active in the Villa Capri social activities while residing in California. She enjoyed bowling, playing card, cooking and bingo.
She is survived by a son, Dr. Robert Poirier, and his wife Barbara, of Aptos, CA, a special grandson whom she raised as her own son, Douglas G. Poirier, Sr. of Oxford, MA., eight other grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Albert J. Poirier, Gerard C. Poirier, and Lena L. Dube, and sister of the late Beatrice Savage.
Her funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 am from the Menard Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave, Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Joseph’s Church, 1200 Mendon Road, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manville. Visiting hours are Friday from 5-8 pm.
