Obituary

Salem: Eileen M. (Hart) Duffy, age 94 and a former resident of Salem, died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at the Hunt Nursing and Retirement Home in Danvers. She was the wife of the late William A. Duffy.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Margaret (Devitt) Hart. Employed by the Social Security Administration as a claims handler, she first worked in the Boston office and later transferred to the office in the Salem Post Office building.
Following Eileen’s retirement, she devoted much of her time to travel with her husband Bill and to volunteer work for several local organizations. She was an active member of the former St. Joseph Church where she also volunteered at the St. Therese Thrift Shop.
Eileen is survived by 3 nieces: Eileen M. Porter of Woburn, Margaret A. Melanson of Lynn & Kathleen Griffin of Florida, 2 nephews: Michael D. Hart of Arizona & Kevin J. Hart of Florida. She was predeceased by 3 brothers: John, William and James Hart and a nephew James Hart.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral mass on Friday, April 11, 2008, at 12 noon in St. James Chapel, Federal St., Salem. Visiting hours will precede her funeral on Friday, at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem from 10 am to 11:30 am. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
