Robert W. Dresser, Sr.
HINGHAM – Robert Willis Dresser, Sr., 84, of Hingham, a retired business owner, died Sunday, April 6th in Atlantis, Florida.
Beloved husband for 57 years of Catherine Virginia (Grimes) Dresser. Devoted father of Robert W. Dresser, Jr. and his wife Ellen and James G. Dresser and his wife Susan all of Hingham. Also survived by five grandchildren all of Hingham, 3 nieces and 6 nephews. He is the son of the late George Harrison Dresser, Sr. & Mary (Kirkland) Dresser and brother of Flora Henderson and the late Eleanor, Barbara, George, and Norman Dresser.
Mr. Dresser was the owner of Dresco Belting Co., Inc. in Weymouth. He was born in Weymouth and resided in Weymouth, Hanover, and has been a resident of Hingham for 43 years. He attended Williston Academy in North Hampton, and was a graduate Mass Radio and Television School in Boston. Mr. Dresser was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Aleppo Shrine and Weymouth United Masonic Lodge in Weymouth, a life member of Wessagusset Yacht Club, and a member of the Hingham Yacht Club. He loved boating and also enjoyed repairing things.
A funeral service will be held at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond Street, Hingham, Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will be immediately after the funeral services at the Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.
