Claire G. (Staples) Bishop 92 years of Brockton died Saturday April 5, 2008 at The Blue Hills Alzheimer’s Care Center after a period of failing health. She was wife of the late Francis D. Bishop. She was raised and educated in Brockton a daughter of the late Everett and Beatrice (Hoxie) Staples and remained a lifelong resident of the city. Claire was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and watching it grow. In her free time Claire enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery and reading.
She was the mother of Beverly Mercier and her husband Fred, Claire Cummings and her husband Lawrence, James Bishop and his wife Colleen all of Brockton and the late Dennis Bishop. She also leaves 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was the sister of Dorothy Perry and Muriel Hathaway both of West Bridgewater; Shirley Ward of Brockton and the late Malcolm Staples. She also leaves a daughter-in-law Lois Bishop of Brockton and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 10 am. The Rev. David Sidoruk of Beacon Hospice will officiate. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery W. Bridgewater. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 pm.
