Obituary

W. C. “Dub” McGee, 80, of Fitzgerald died Friday, April 4, 2008, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held 4 PM Monday, April 7, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Kelly Brown and the Rev. Bill McGee officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 on Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. McGee was born July 28, 1927 in Irwin County, Georgia to the late Dave and Montine Roberts McGee. He lived most all his life in the community and was a retired Trainman for the CSX Railroad with 40 years of service. He also was secretary for the United Trainman Union. Mr. McGee served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church where he served on the Bereavement Committee and was a member of the Baraca Sunday School Class. Mr. McGee was very civic minded and served with the Ben Hill County Board of Elections.

Mr. McGee is survived by his wife: Sue Lee McGee of Fitzgerald; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Jim Harris of Fitzgerald, Tina and Lloyd Brewer of Dahlonega: son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Jennsey McGee of Richmond Hill; grandchildren: Mallory, Scott, Lacey and Brittany; Great-Grandchildren: Isaiah, Sierra, and Savannah; Step-Children Lee Ann and Emory Walker of Tifton, Andy McDonald and Mike and Wanda McDonald both of Fitzgerald. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Elna Futch McGee, 2 Brothers: Theo McGee and Buford McGee, and 3 Sisters: Ann Gordon, Mildred Olson, and Naomi Miller.
