Obituary


Manchester-Wilfrid A. Lachance, 77, died April 3, 2008 at the CRVNA Hospice House in Concord after a long illness.
He was born in Manchester on August 17, 1930 the son of Wilfrid and Anne (Grossmith) Lachance.
He attended local schools. He graduated from Manchester West High School, and attained an Associates degree from N.H. School of Accounting and Commerce, now S.N.H.U.
He was a parishioner of St. Raphael Church since 1959.
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from 1947 to 1951, serving in the Far East 3rd Emergency Rescue Squadron during the Korean Conflict.
He worked in the Insurance field for many agencies throughout his life including his own company Lachance Insurance Agency, and Elite Insurance Agency. He also owned and operated the Lachance Time Recorder Company, selling it in 1992.
He served as Police Commissioner for the city of Manchester for 7 years.
He was a lifetime member and past Quartermaster of VFW Post 8214, Manchester American Legion Sweeney Post, Alpine Club, Lafayette Club, Raphael Club and a 20 year member of the Jolliet Club.
He was predeceased by his wife of 35 years Rita B. (Chevrefils) Lachance on November 24, 1996.
Family members include his two daughters Sandra Young, of Bellevue WA., Tracy McCaffrey, of Henderson, NV., and his son Daniel Lachance, of Phillipsburg, NJ., 13 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
Services: Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 pm at J.N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 am in St. Raphael Church, 103 Walker St.
Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
