Obituary

George F. Butler, a resident of Pembroke since 1989 and formerly of Charlestown, died on Wednesday April 2, 2008 at John Scott Nursing & Rehabilitation Nursing Home in Braintree following a lengthy illness. He was 86 years old.

George was born in Charlestown on February 22, 1922. He grew up in Charlestown and attended Boston Public Schools. He enlisted into the United States Army on March 2, 1949. He served during the Korean Conflict and was discharged on June 19, 1952 with the rank of Sergeant. George worked for many years at J.H. Emerson Company a medical supplies company and retired as a Chief Financial Officer. He was a member of the Abington V.F.W. Post # 5737.

George is the beloved son of the late John and Anna (Butlin) Butler. He is the devoted brother of John J. Butler of Reading, William Butler of N.H., Gertrude Davis of Woburn and the late Elizabeth H. Walsh. He is the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews.

George's Funeral will be held on Saturday April 5, 2008 at 9 a.m. from the Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be on Friday April 4, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
