Obituary

CHELMSFORD: Richard W. “Rick” Gray, age 52, a Waltham native, of Chelmsford, died Monday, March 31, 2008 at the Fairhaven Nursing Home in Lowell, following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was the husband of Pamela J. (Slater) Gray, with whom he would have celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary on October 19, 2008.
Born in Waltham on July 25, 1955, he was the son of the late Donald E. and Helen (Natale) Gray.
Rick was raised in Waltham and attended Waltham schools.
He resided in Lexington until moving to Chelmsford 12 years ago.
Prior to his illness, he founded and operated the West Excavation Company of Chelmsford.
He was a 30 year member of the Waltham and Chelmsford Lodge of Elks.
According to his family, he enjoyed many activities including watching the New England Patriots, deer hunting and vacationing with his family in Maine at Old Orchard Beach.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three children, James R. Slater, Samantha J. and Steven D. Gray all of Chelmsford;one brother, Donald S. Gray and his wife Luzia of Winter Haven, FL; one sister, Donna J. Gray of Waltham; his mother-in-law, Dorothy A. Slater of Tewksbury; also many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Gray was the son-in-law of the late Robert B. Slater.
Calling hours Saturday, April 5th, 3-6 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, immediately followed by a prayer service to be held at the funeral home. Following the prayer service, all are invited to a Celebration of Rick’s Life Gathering at the Chelmsford Elks. In lieu of flowers, donations payable to Donald S.
