Floyd R. Winter, 93, of Derry, NH and formerly of Newton, NH, passed away early Wednesday morning at Parkland Medical Center in Derry after a brief illness.
Mr. Winter was a long time resident of Newton where he served as a Lieutenant in the volunteer fire department, an auxiliary police officer and a school custodian. He was also a member of the Mason’s in Epping, NH. He spent his last 16 years in Derry with his daughter and son-in-law Janet and Robert Marquis.
He is survived by his daughter Janet Marquis of Derry and his sons, Sumner Winter of Raymond , NH, Eugene Winter of Merrimack, MA., David Winter of Grafton, NH and Roland Winter of Tennessee. He is also survived by two sisters, Nellie Polister of Kingston, NH and Arlene LaJoie of Haverhill, MA. Extended family members include numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Winter was predeceased by his wife Louise (Grebinstein) Winter in 1991 and a son Leslie Winter in 1954.
A memorial service was held at Harvest Baptist Church, 361 Hackett Hill Rd, Hooksett, NH on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at 4:00 PM. Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium,15 Birch Street, Derry, is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be private.
