Obituary

Curtis Edward Lindsey, Sr., 89, of Tifton died Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2008, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Gary Cadwell and Rev. Steve Tucker will officiate with burial to follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. Terry Nichols, Jack Douglas, James Harris, Steve Hand, Milton Rousey, Troy Tapp and Perry Taylor will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Liberty Baptist Church and the Cleo McAllister Sunday School Class of Liberty Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 4, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Lindsey was born on June 17, 1918 in Sandersville and was the son of George Wiley Lindsey and Martha Jane Nobles Lindsey Crutchfield, both deceased. He was a retired fireman with the Macon Fire Department and served in the United States Navy for six years during World War II. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He had lived in Tifton for 33 years.

Mr. Lindsey is survived by his wife, Mildred Kitchens Lindsey of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Curtis, Jr. and Sara Lindsey of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Deborah "Beth" Lindsey Holloway and her husband, Jeff, of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, H. T. and Carolyn Lindsey of Yulee, Florida; one sister, Elizabeth Lindsey of Naples, Florida; and four grandchildren, Kenneth Lindsey, Ryan Lindsey, Shawn Lindsey and Grayson Langston.
