Obituary

James C. Beyer, 92, of New Bedford, completed his life's journey on Monday, March 31, 2008. He was the husband of the late Barbara (Howard) Beyer; they had been married for 55 years.

Born in Milwaukee, WI, the son of the late Fred W. and Anna (Wynne) Beyer, he lived in New Bedford, Dartmouth, and Acushnet for many years.

Mr. Beyer was formerly employed by the Acushnet Company, Golf Ball Division until his retirement in 1980.

After retirement he and his wife Barb enjoyed spending time at Horseneck Beach. He spent many hours wood carving and furniture making. He enjoyed bowling in the Senior League at the Wonder Bowl. In his younger days, he participated in many sports.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy Seabees.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy W. Reis and her companion Normand Lemieux of New Bedford and Gayle Baldwin and her husband Vernon of Gilchrist, Oregon; a sister, Emma Broadland of New Bedford; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

He was the brother of the late Alice Hall and Ralph Beyer.

A private burial service was held on Friday morning at the Mass. National Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church, North Dartmouth, Tuesday at 10 AM. For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
