James F. Griffin, 77, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A. M. Friday, April 4, 2008, at the Paulk Funeral home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Mathews and Rev. Edsel Young officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Griffin was born November 2, 1930 in Coffee County to the late Fate and Daisy Mae Troupe Griffin. He lived in Coffee and Ben Hill Counties most of his life and was a former resident of Orlando, FL. Mr. Griffin was a former employee of Fitzgerald Cotton Mill, Rainbow Irrigation, the City of Fitzgerald, a former greeter for Harvey’s Supermarket and was a former self-employed businessman. He was a member of Eastside Holiness Baptist Church.
Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife, Geraldine Peacock Griffin of Fitzgerald; son and daughter-in-law, Lamonte & Brenda Griffin of Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Amanda Griffin Fitzgerald and Anthony of Tifton, Jessica Griffin and Joshua Griffin both of Fitzgerald; brothers & sister-in-law, Olin & Carol Griffin of Jacksonville, FL and John E. “Dutch” Griffin of Fitzgerald; sisters, Lottie Mae Royal of Wray and Olethia Luke of Fitzgerald, as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Lavone Griffin and a brother, Thurman Griffin.
