Edwin D. “Eddie” Richey, 65, of Ben Hill County died Wednesday, April 2 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P. M. Saturday, April 5 at Salem Baptist Church, Ben Hill County with Rev. Brent Duncan, Rev. Danny Lovett, Rev. Dudley Cook and Rev. Bobby Richey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9 PM Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Richey was born April 21, 1942 in Douglas, Georgia to Lizzie Mae Branam Richey and the late Warren Richey. He was a 1960 graduate of Warner Robins High School and played semipro baseball for the Warner Robins Jets. Mr. Richey moved back to Ben Hill County in 1983 where he was a member, former Training Union Director, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Chairman of the Deacons and Sunday School Superintendent at Salem Baptist Church. He retired in 1993 as an Aircraft Electrician from Robins Air Force Base, was former owner/operator and truck driver for Baker Transport. He was an avid bowler and golfer.
Mr. Richey is survived by his wife: Lanora (Tina) Richey of Ben Hill County; children: Mark R. (Virginia) Richey of Warner Robins, Manya (Ronnie McMillan) Faircloth of Dublin, Libby (Wayne) Henderson of Ben Hill County, Kim Richey of Jacksonville, FL and Drew (Melanie) Richey of Fitzgerald; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; mother: Lizzie Mae Richey of Rochelle; brothers: Bobby (Lavada) Richey of Ben Hill County and Tommy Richey of Pulaski County.
