Myrtie H. Browne, 90, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, Derry. Mrs. Browne was born in Derry on January 31, 1918 a daughter of the late Carlton and Goldie (Wilson) Hoisington. She was a lifelong resident of Derry and was employed as a supervisor at Honeywell in Manchester, NH for 23 years before retiring in 1978. Mrs. Browne was in a bowling league for many years and after taking up golf in her 60s and 70s was a member of Hoodkroft Country Club in Derry. She also enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by three daughters, Sallie Sakash and her husband George of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Virginia Sakash and her husband Ronald of Westfield, MA, and Kim Mitzel and her husband John of Chester, NH; one son, Walter Hanf and his wife Janet of Flagstaff, AZ; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one sister, Gladys Richardson of Derry, NH and one brother George Hoisington of Goffstown, NH. Mrs. Browne was predeceased by her husband, William J. Browne who died in 1982 and by her son, Jonathan Browne who died in 1984.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, private graveside services will be held in the spring at Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling arrangements.
