Obituary

Virginia E. (Nichols) Cullen died March 31, 2008 after several months of failing health. She was 86 years old. Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late James and Eva (Dumoulin) Nichols. She was educated in Taunton schools and resided in Taunton most of her life prior to moving to Assonet, Ma. in 1980. During World War II Virginia was employed at Eureka Manufacturing in Taunton and at Raytheon in North Dighton. Family was the Essence of her life, especially her nine precious grandchildren and four great-grandchildren to whom she was known as “Nanny Ma”. Known for her quick wit, her enjoyments in life were swimming, reading, luncheons in Newport, RI. as well as antiquing. Virginia is survived by her children: Jack Cullen and his wife Dona Cullen of Lake Oswego, Oregon; Joan V. Cullen Kuliga and her husband Mitchell of Assonet, Ma;Peter Cullen of Taunton, Ma and Jane Cullen of Taunton, Ma as well as her grandchildren: Kristen; Peter; Kimberly; Brendan; Amanda; Meghan; Caitlin; Kelsey and Aaron and her great-grandchildren: Chojur; Tashi; Kade; and Reid. She is also survived by her brother Robert Nichols of Mattapoisett, Ma. Preceding her in death were her brothers James and Andrew Nichols, Sister Norma Nichols, Doris Nichols Tracy and Ruth Nichols Cronin. Calling hours will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street in Taunton on Saturday, April 5th from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home Saturday morning at 11:30 am. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery in Taunton. In lieu of flowers donations in Virginia’s memory may be made to Old Colony Hospice, One Credit Union Way, Randolph, Ma, 02368 or Life Care Center of Raynham, Activities Fund, 546 South Street East, Raynham, Ma. 02767.
