Frieda E. "Fritzie" (Hellener) Samia, 92, a resident of North Andover, Massachusetts. Died on Sunday, March 30th, 2008 at the Lawrence General Hospital.
She was born on July 9th, 1915 in Methuen, MA. to Ernest and Louisa (Schaler) Hellener. She was educated in Methuen Schools and was a graduate of E.F. Searles High School in Methuen class of 1933. She worked for 20 years for the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard and retired in 1972 from the Internal Revenue Service in Andover, MA.
She was a parishioner of St. Georges Orthodox Church in Lawrence, MA. and also a member of the Holy Family Womens Guild. According to Mrs. Samia's family she was an avid golfer having played at Crystal Springs Golf Club in Haverhill, MA. where she was a member, and also enjoyed traveling, and she belonged to a local bowling league.
She is the wife of the late Charles Samia, she also leaves her children: Russell and Wife Darlene Samia of Plaistow, N.H. Charline and her husband Raymond Mahoney of North Andover, MA. Christine and her husband Bill Downall of Indianapolis, IN. Grand children: Nicholas Samia of Plaistow, N.H. Alison Samia of Houston, TX. Laurie and husband Jarrad Lawlor of Bradford, MA. Ellen Mahoney and her fiance Justin Cusce of Natick, MA. Peter Mahoney of North Andover, MA. and Julie Downall of Allston, MA. as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be said in her name on Thursday, April 3rd, 2008 at 10:00AM at the Breen Funeral Home in Lawrence. A burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen, MA.
