Norman J. Bistany
Salem NH - Norman J. Bistany, 78 died Saturday March 29, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Norman was born in Lawrence and was the son of the late Hassan and Najjla(Bistany) Bistany, and was a longtime Lawrence resident before moving to Salem NH. He was educated in Lawrence and was a graduate of Lawrence High School in the class of 1947, where he was the first Captain of the Lawrence High School Band.
Norman worked for General Electric, formerly known as RCA in Burlington, MA. For many years he was a well known musician throughout the Merrimack Valley and the Greater Boston area. He was a US Navy Veteran and a member of Mary Queen of Peace Church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Elisa F. (Picone) Bistany, one daughter Jacqueline D. Callahan and husband Michael of Salem, NH, five sons, Norman J. Jr. and his wife Ann Bistany of Danvers, MA., Kenneth and his wife Donna Bistany of Salem, NH, Peter and his wife Sandra Bistany of Windham, NH, Phillip and his wife Christine Bistany of Salem , NH and Steven and his wife Yvonne Bistany of Avondale, PA, one brother Robert J. Bistany of Lawrence, MA. , sixteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements: There are no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be take place on Thursday at 10:30 AM at Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem, NH. Burial to follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
