WORCESTER__Lillian A. (Simakauskas) Sviklas, 82, of Worcester died Friday March 28 in her home.
She leaves her husband of over 50 years, Vite G.Sviklas, three daughters, Mary S. Tanzer of Hollis, N.H., Christine A. Sviklas of Worcester and Paula R. Sheehan and her husband, James S. Jr., of Millbury; a son, George S. Sviklas of Worcester; she was affectionately known as “G” to her grandchildren, Evan and Mitchell Tanzer of Hollis, N.H., and Faith and Patrick Sheehan of Millbury; Auntie “Pum” also leaves numerous nieces and nephews and godchildren. She was born in Worcester, a daughter of Stephen and Nellie (Chaplis) Simakauskas and lived here all her life.
Mrs. Sviklas worked at Melville Shoe until she stopped working to raise her family. She graduated from Commerce High School where she was captain of the 1943 City Champs Girls Basketball team. Lillian was a member of St. Casimir Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, listening to polkas, watching Mass daily and going out to eat with her husband.
The funeral will be held on Monday March 31 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence St. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
