TEWKSBURY - Isabelle Ann Cogan, age 80, a resident of Tewksbury for the past five decades, died Friday, March 28, at the Willow Manor Nursing Care facility in Lowell, following a long period of declining health. She was the wife of Philip J. Cogan, with whom she had celebrated a 56th wedding anniversary this past June 3rd.
She was born in Lowell, on May 2, 1927, a daughter of the late Guy and Alice (Clough) Downs, and was raised in Lowell. She graduated from Lowell High School, with the Class of 1944. Upon her marriage, she moved to Tewksbury, where she and her husband built their own home. Mrs. Cogan was active at the Pawtucket Congregational Church in Lowell, especially in the Elder Visitor program for the church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Phyllis and her husband David Cate of Pelham, NH; three sons, Barry Cogan and Alicia Frank of Hookset, NH, Roger and Lauren Cogan of Billerica, and Peter Cogan of Tewksbury; three grandchildren, Meredith and Stephen Cate of Pelham, NH, and Xander Cogan of Hookset, NH; a brother, Rodney Downs and his wife Shirley of Shawsville, VA; her sister-in-law, Virginia Cogan of Tewksbury; and many nieces and nephews.
