CONNOLLY, Maren (nee Gunthner) passed away very peacefully at Hackensack Hospice on March 28, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. With her warm and gentle nature she welcomed all into her heart. She was a devoted wife, loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother to her family, who were her passion. She never shied away from her commitment to their successes and happiness. This will remain her legacy to her family. Maren (Mommy) touched countless lives throughout her 90+ years with her kind and generous spirit. She will always be remembered for her crocheted afghans, red goulash and fudge. Her strength, dignity and grace in facing daunting challenges were an inspiration to all of us.
Maren, of New Milford, formerly of West New York beloved wife of the late John J. Connolly, Jr. Devoted mother of Karen Olsen and husband Robert, Jeanne Dexheimer and husband Dr. Richard, Kathleen Surak and husband Robert, John J. Connolly III and wife Claudette and Kevin Connolly and wife Susan. Loving Grandmother of Brian, Brent, Kimberly, Todd, Jennifer, Jeanine, Renée, Shawn, Jacqueline, Colleen and Sarah Maren. Cherished Great Grandmother of Logan, Brad Jr., Brianna, Nicholas and Alayna. Maren worked for the Town of West New York in the Finance Department for over 20 years. She was a member of the Maywood Leisure Club, Lydecker Manor Senior Club and participated in the Crochet Club. Funeral service on Monday 10:30AM from the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Road, Teaneck, NJ, then to Fairview Cemetery for interment. Family and friends are invited to visit Sunday 2-4 and 7-9PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
