Obituary

WEBSTER/THOMPSON – Margaret A.”Peg” (Gordon) Dudek, 91, formerly of Thompson Road, died Thursday, March 27, in Webster Manor. Her first husband, Thomas Govina, died in 1971. Her second husband, Edward Dudek, died in 2001.

She leaves a daughter, Margaret G. “Trudy” Heckendorf and her husband Dana of Thompson, CT; a step daughter, Sheila Burns and her husband Thomas of Thompson, CT; a brother, Harry Gordon of Palmer; 4 grandsons, Michael, Matthew, Thomas and Daniel; 6 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Her brother Clifford was killed in action during the invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. Another brother, Roger Gordon, predeceased her.

She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of Alec Benjamin Gordon and Gertrude (Motherway) Gordon. She lived in Webster, Southbridge and Thompson. She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester.

Peg worked in the office at Cranston Print Works Company for 27 years before retiring in 1989.

She loved golfing and was a member of the Cohasse Contry Club in Southbridge, the Thompson Speedway Golf Club in Thompson and the Nichols College Golf Course in Dudley. She was involved in the annual Pleasant Valley Country Club’s PGA tournament in Sutton for over 30 years. She belonged to the Worcester County Women’s Golf Association, the Red Hat Society and was a member of the Quinnatisset Grange in Thompson for over 50 years.

Calling hours will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, March 30, in the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster. A funeral service will be held at 7:30 PM Sunday, March 30, during the calling hours. Donations in her memory may be made to Webster Manor, First Floor Activity Group, 745 School St., Webster, MA 01570.
