Charlie H. “Papa” Bullington, 86, of Fitzgerald died, Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Carl Vinson Medical Center in Dublin.
Funeral Services will be held 2 P.M., Monday, March 31, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. Ronald Parks officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Bullington was born October 27, 1921 in Rhine, Georgia to the late Jesse J. and Alma Bearden Bullington. He lived in the community most of his life. Mr. Bullington retired at the age of 82 from the Ben Hill County Road Department and was a former employee of Fitzgerald Ice Company and Sultana Truck Stop. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Bullington was a member of Anderson Memorial Baptist Church and the coffee club at Taylor Convenience Store.
Mr. Bullington is survived by his wife, Vera Olean Bullington of Fitzgerald; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Damon Bullington of Dudley, Curtis Leon & Marie Bullington and Ralph W. & Paula Bullington, all of Fitzgerald and Jimmy & Michelle Bullington of Ocilla; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Tyler Bullington, son, William Henry Bullington and a daughter, Wanda Elaine Bullington.
