Mrs. Charlotte I. Doherty, age 84, died Thursday morning, March 27, 2008 at home in Burlington, after a lengthy illness. Born in Winchester, Charlotte was the devoted daughter of the late Charlotte (Roach) & James Moran.
Charlotte was raised in Winchester where she was a Winchester High School graduate, class of 1942. A few years after graduation, Charlotte met and married her beloved husband Ernest G. Doherty. They moved to Woburn where they spent over 50 years together. They wintered in Hobe Sound, FL, where they were members of Eaglewood Country Club. In summertime they lived on the Cape, in Falmouth. Charlotte's husband Ernest was a professional golfer; together with her husband they won numerous husband and wife golf outings. She and her husband were former owners of the Cape Cod Country Club. It was sold in 1984.
In addition to her beloved husband, Charlotte was the loving sister of James Moran of Hanover and the late Charles Moran, Harold Moran, Virginia Skerry and Margaret Smith.
Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Monday at 8 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in Charlotte's name to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
