Obituary

SALEM - Alice ( Lewandowski) Ladyszewski, 96, wife of the late William J. Ladyszewski, died Tuesday evening, March 25, 2008 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Wladyslaw & Zofia (Tokarski) Lewandowski. Alice was a lifelong resident of the city and parishioner of the St. John The Baptist Church.

Prior to her retirement in 1980, she was employed for over 50 years as an office manager in the shoe industry.

An active member of her church and community, Alice was a member of numerous Polish organizations and served as president of the Massachusetts Federation of Polish Women's Clubs.

Alice is survived by two daughters, Joanna Simms and her husband, Arnold, of Dover, Delaware, Christine Ladyszewski of Ogunquit, Maine, a son, Michael Ladd and his wife Barbara of Danvers, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Stephanie Sylvain of Beverly, 1 brother, Frederick Lewandowski of Peabody, several nieces and nephews and her devoted care givers, Marie, Brenda, Maria, Rachel, Cathy, Sandy, Linda, Grace & Marina. She was the sister of the late Stanley Lewandowski, Helen Berkeley, Mildred Grusheski, & Stacia Benjamin.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at the St. John The Baptist Church. Visiting hours are Friday, 5 to 8 pm. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial is in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem.
