Ruth (Blaisdell) Rogers, age 93, of 26 Milefski Drive, Independence Village, Montville, died Monday evening at Greentree Manor in Waterford after an extended illness.
Mrs. Rogers was born in Oakland, Maine on December 6, 1910 the daughter of Arthur E. and Mamie (Leighton) Blaisdell. Raised in this area, she was a 1929 graduate of Chapman Technical School in New London.
A longtime resident of Maple Ave., Montville, she was a Past Matron of the Oweneco Chapter, Order of Eastern Star in Montville from 1943-1974.
She was married to Bernard Leroy Allen who died in 1966. She was later married to James Francis Rogers who died in 1981.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by her nephew and his wife, Alden and Josephine Mitchell of Pawcatuck, formerly of Noank, niece and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Irene Mitchell, who died in May, 2002 at age 101.
Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday from 11am until 12noon. A Service will immediately follow at noon with the Rev. Lisabeth M. Gustafson, Pastor of the Old Mystic Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in Comstock Cemetery, Montville.
