Obituary

Madeline J. "Pal" (Payton) Connor, 83, of Fairhaven, formerly of New Bedford, died Sunday March 23, 2008 peacefully at Our Lady's Haven. She was the wife of the late Francis L. Connor.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John A. and Madeline (Mello) Payton, she lived in Washington, D.C. and Virginia before returning to the New Bedford area, where she lived for many years.

She was a devoted member of St. Lawrence Martyr Church.

Mrs. Connor was formerly employed as a civilian employee of the U.S. Air Force at the Pentagon.

During World War II, she served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include a son, Lawrence M. Connor of New Orleans, LA; a daughter, Mary Connor Canastra and her husband Gilbert of Fairhaven; and several nieces and nephews.

Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 12 Noon at St. Lawrence Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted.
