Obituary

Ernest E. Benoit 87 years of Brockton died Sunday March 23, 2008 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was the devoted husband for 65 years of Lillian M. (Rondeau) Benoit. He was born in Brockton, the son of the late Rosario A. and Eva (Gaudette) Benoit and he remained a life long resident of Brockton. He was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1939. He retired as a manager for ACME Glass Company, previously he operated his own mobile glass company. During WWII he served in the US Army. Mr. Benoit enjoyed being a handy man, helping others, bowling but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Club National Bowling League and was a longtime communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church, where he was member of the Holy Name Society and a Eucharist Minister.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Elaine Peckham and her husband Ray of W. Bridgewater, three grandchildren Laurie Peckham and her husband Chris Lacy of E. Bridgewater, Stacey Slack and her husband Brian and Chris Peckham and his wife Nina both of Berkley, seven great grandchildren, Jacob, Emily, Sam, Madison, Mia, Natalie and Sarah, a sister Doris Boucher of Brockton and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Armand, Raymond, Robert and Arthur Benoit and Beatrice Hickey.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 8am. Funeral Mass in Christ The King Parish/ St. Colman Church at 9am. Burial will be private at a later date. Visiting hours Tuesday 5-8pm. Donations in memory of Ernest may be made to the Patients Activity Fund, c/o West Acres Nursing Home, 804 Pleasant St., Brockton, MA 02301.
