WORCESTER-Julianne M. (Murphy) Baldwin, 87, of Worcester, died peacefully in the home of her daughter on Monday, March 24th. She will join her husband of 60 years John Baldwin who died April 25th. She is survived by her two daughters, Julianne, wife of Gerald Creamer of Shrewsbury and Lois, wife of Robert Childs of Worcester; two sons, John and his wife Elizabeth Baldwin of Yantic, CT and William Baldwin of Worcester; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Two sisters, Jean Murphy and Alice White and her brother John Murphy predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester, April 24, 1920 the daughter of John P. and Alice V. (Carberry) Murphy. Julie graduated from the former Commerce High School where she played basketball and field hockey. Julie retired in 1981 as retirement secretary for the Worcester Public School Central Administration Department. She was a member of Omega Kappa Sorority. Mrs. Baldwin was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish and a long standing member of the Guild of Our Lady of Providence. She fondly recalled memories of Girl Scouting in her youth. An avid sports fan, she followed her husband’s playing career at Syracuse University and as a coach at South High School. She was an accomplished knitter creating many afghans for family and friends. During her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and following the activities of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The funeral is Thursday, March 27th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 the morning of the funeral.
