Lucy S. (Miragliuolo) Cicilline, R.N., 96,of Borden St.,Providence passed away Monday, March 24, 2008 at Steere House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late John B. Cicilline.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Nicola and Clementina (Impagliazzo) Miragliuolo, she had been a resident of Smithfield for 15 years and had previously lived in Narragansett.
She was a graduate of St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, 1933, and a member of its alumnae association. She was extremely proud of her profession and was remembered by many for her nursing skills and her administrative ability. She was a communicant of St. Philip Church, Greenville, and St. Mary Star of the Sea, Narragansett. As a resident of The Village at Waterman Lake, she crocheted baby blankets for Women & Infants Hospital and afghans for Amos House. She also crocheted numerous afghans for her children and grandchildren and she took great pride in their accomplishments. She was a true friend to many, lover of the ocean and of her state, and a dedicated card player. In spite of a nearly total loss of eyesight in 1991, she continued her independent way of life for as long as she could. She is survived by one daughter, Barbara J. DiSanto of Narragansett, and three sons : John F. Cicilline of Providence, J. Clement Cicilline of Newport, and Stephen E. Cicilline of Greenville; 21 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late Leo Miragliuolo, M.D., the late Joseph Miragliuolo, PPD, and the late Filomena Gobis, of the State Treasurer’s Office.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Smithfield. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visitation Tuesday 4-8pm in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Steere House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 100 Borden Street, Providence, RI 02903 or St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, 200 High Service Avenue, North Providence, RI 02904.
