Ilean R. Chisholm, 85, died March 22nd in the Brockton Hospital after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late James & Daphena (Daley) Chisholm. Born and brought up in Whitman, a graduate of Whitman High, Class of 1941 and Pondville School of Nursing. Ilean was a nurse for many years on the South Shore. She was a lifelong resident of Whitman, a member of the Holy Ghost Church, also of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, and the Women’s Catholic Guild. She worked in the St. Francis Thrift Shop and helped at bingo. She was also a Girl Scout leader and taught the Marion Senior Award.
She is survived by her sister Elaine Chiros of Whitman her nieces Kathryn Jarrett and her husband Charles of Brockton, and Andrea Chiros of Halifax , her nephew David Chiros of Whitman and her great nephew Aidan Rothwell of Halifax, and her dear friend Marg Trainor of Halifax Nova Scotia. She was also the sister of the late Jeannette Chisholm and sister in law of the late George Nicholas Chiros.
Her funeral services will be held March 25th at 12:15 P.M. from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (RT 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, followed by a 1:00 P.M. Mass in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery. Her visiting hours will be March 24th from 3:00- 7:00 P.M.
