Louis M. Soldani, Jr., 74, a lifelong resident of Mansfield died on Saturday March 22, 2008 surrounded by his loving family at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
Born in Bronx, New York on July 4, 1933 he was a son of the late Louis M. and Mary (Sotnik) Soldani, Sr.
He grew up in Mansfield and attended Mansfield public schools. Mr. Soldani was a retired Machinist having worked for the Merckens Chocolate Co. in Mansfield for 40 years prior to retirement.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield, he was a true homebody and a fixture on North Main St. where he enjoyed watching the activities of town from the comfort of the bench in his front yard. He loved animals and his daily routines included trips to Fulton’s Pond to visit and feed the ducks.
He is survived by his devoted children Lisa A. Fortier and her husband Gerry of North Attleboro, Lori K. Lischer and her husband Rick of Brockport, New York and Louis M. Soldani, III of Franklin, his cherished granddaughter Caitlin A. Lischer of Brockport, New York, his brother Lodovico Soldani and his wife Marie of Norton, also survived by several nieces and nephews and his former wife Donna M. (Greenwood) of Attleboro. He was the longtime friend of Mary Sheehan and her family of Mansfield and was the best friend to and was loved and adored by there family dog Casey.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday March 25th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Private burial will be held at a later date.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday March 24th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Louis’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Community VNA 10 Emory St. Attleboro, MA 02703.
