Justin J. McCarthy, of Brockton, formerly of Boston and Canton passed away on March 17, 2008 at The Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was 76 years old. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis (Greenberg) and the late Violet ( Kinsella ).
Born May 19, 1931 in Boston, Massachusetts, he was a son to the late Charles G. McCarthy Sr. and Mary E. (McMullen). He attended Boston Public Schools.
Mr. McCarthy was a United States Army Veteran of The Korean War. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. He was the Past Commander of VFW Post 3163 in Canton and the Past Norfolk County VFW Commander.
He was employed as a Mailhandler for the United States Post Office for over 25 years. He was also employed as a Security Officer for the Stop & Shop Company for over five years.
Besides his wife, his survivors include, his children, Robert McCarthy of Arizona, Heidi Mador of Connecticut, Peter McCarthy of California, Elisa Napier, of Raynham, Peter Fijalkowski and Anthony Fijalkowski, both of Brockton. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Couture of Weymouth, his 3 grandchildren, Amanda Mazzoni of Brockton, Brianne McCarthy of Arizona, Matthew Mador of Connecticut and his great – grandchild Shayna Marie Hodgedon of Brockton. Justin was also a father to the late George McCarthy and a brother to the late Charles G. McCarthy Jr., Donald McCarthy and Paul McCarthy.
His funeral service and burial will be held on Monday March 24, 2008 at 11:30 A.M. in The Massachusetts Veterans National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. NOTE: There will be a visitation period from 9 – 10 A.M. in The Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton.
