Jesup- Mr. Ernest A. Hayes, age 87, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital in Savannah after an extended illness. A native of Buford GA., he had lived in Jesup the past three years. He was retired from Lockheed Aircraft in Marietta and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Buford, GA.
He was preceded in death by his wife Edith Mae Hayes.
Surviving are two sons: Ricky and his wife Patricia Hayes of Jesup and Douglas Hayes of Buford; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters and other family members also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 16, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. from the Zion Hill Baptist Church in Buford with Brother Warren Williams and Reverend Danny Newbern officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The family will receive friends at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel and Gardens in Buford, Saturday evening from 5 until 9 p.m.
