TEWKSBURY - Max Lee Smith, age 82, a retired cabinet maker, died Thursday evening, March 20, at The Heritage Manor in Lowell, following a brief illness. He was the husband of Virginia (Murray) Smith of Tewksbury.
He was born in Lafayette, Indiana, on February 26, 1926 and raised in Indiana. He entered into the U.S. Navy during WW2, and served aboad USS Astoria as a Gunner's Mate. He settled in Tewksbury in 1982.
He worked as a cabinet maker, and carpenter, and was also known as a skilled furniture maker.
He was a Life member at Post 8164, Veteran of Foreign Wars, in Tewksbury, and was described by his family as having enjoyed watching professional sports, with the Boston Bruins as his favorite team.
Mr. Smith is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Ann and Roderick Dulude of Dunbarton, NH, and Christine and Peter LeBlanc of Tewksbury; six grandchildren, Darrell Dulude of NYC, Andrea Paduchak of Hudson, NH, Erick Dulude of Dunbarton, April Dulude of Chesapeake, VA, Crystal and Jeffrey LeBlanc both of Tewksbury; and four great grandchildren, Marie, Nikolai, Devin, Declan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also brother of the late Vernon Smith, Emery Smith, and Dorothy Garland.
