Mary C. (Hanlon) Barrett, a resident of Brewster for over 30 years and formerly of Canton and Dorchester, died on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Epoch of Brewster Nursing Home in Brewster after a short battle with cancer. She was 94 years old.
Mary was born in Cambridge on May 7, 1913. She grew up in Cambridge where she attended Cambridge Public Schools and graduated from high school there. Mary owned her own beauty salon in South Boston and worked as a hair dresser there for many years. She enjoyed playing bridge in her spare time and was an accomplished bowler down on Cape Cod.
Mary is the beloved wife of the late John Barrett. She is the beloved sister of the late William, Francis, Harold and Joseph Hanlon. She is the devoted sister-in-law of Ruth Hanlon of Brewster and Mary Hanlon of Melrose. She is the devoted aunt of Mary Tabacchi and her husband Tav. of Colorado, Judy Spratt of Florida, Harold J. Hanlon Jr. and his wife Judy of Melrose, Michael Hanlon of Florida, William Hanlon and his wife Mary of Melrose and John Hanlon and his wife Patti of New York. Mary is also survived by many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday morning, March 24, 2008, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Melrose, followed by her Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main Street, Wakefield. Cremation will take place following her Funeral Mass.
