Obituary

WORCESTER-Virginia “Yiayia” (Margoupis) Corridori, 85, of Worcester passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 18th in UMass-Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of 29 years, Ralph C. Corridori died in 1983. She is survived by her son, Steven R. and his wife, Yvonne Corridori of Auburn; two daughters, Sandra, wife of Anthony DiReda of Shrewsbury and Susan, wife of Dan Rivelli of Oxford; 8 grandchildren, Stefanie and Michael DiReda, Nicholas and Adam Rivelli, Ashley and Rebecca Corridori, Cristi Navickas and Jennifer Sullivan; two great-grandchildren Aiden Navickas and Daimon Sullivan; and many nephews and nieces. Three brothers, Charles, Timothy and Adam Margoupis, and two sisters, Stella Mally and Nikki McCutcheon predeceased her.

She was born in Worcester the daughter of George and Olympia (Poulis) Margoupis. Mrs. Corridori was a graduate of Commerce High School and at one time worked for Table Talk Pie. She was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and had been a den mother with its Cub Scout’s. Mrs. Corridori played an integral part in the relocation of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church from Orange Street to its present location; and had also served as president of the PTO at her children’s school. Yiayia was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and enjoyed sewing.

The funeral is Friday, March 21st from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 11:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, March 20th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
