IRMGARD P. “IRMA” (MAYER) SHEEHAN, age 81, passed away on Tuesday March 18, 2008 at her home the Neponset section of Dorchester,Irma was born,raised and educated in Germany where she met her beloved husband Richard F. Sheehan while he was serving with the United States Army. She came to the United States in 1953 and was married in St. Ann's Church, Neponset where she became a devoted parishioner for the rest of her life. For many years Irma was a member of St. Ann's Choir. Irma was also a member of the K Club, The Pope's Hill Neighborhood Association, the Goethe Society and the Ladies of Charity at Carney Hospital where she was a longtime volunteer. Irma enjoyed gardening, knitting, and crocheting, but her true calling in life was as wife, mother and homemaker to her husband Dick and her adored late son Karl F. Sheehan who passed away in 1981.
Irma is survived by her sister; Lotte Bauer of Germany, her dear friends; Susan Graham and Maureen Costello-Shea, her brothers-in-law; Robert Sheehan and Carroll Sheehan, and her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Funeral from the O’Donnell & Mulry Funeral Home 138 Neponset Ave. Dorchester, Monday morning at 9:15. Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Neponset at 10 A.M.
