WEBSTER - Rita M. (Boulanger) Sledzik, 85, formerly of Prospect St., died Friday, March 14, in Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge. Her husband of 54 years, Theodore F. “Ted” Sledzik, died in 2000.
She leaves 4 daughters, Theresa D. D’Auria and her husband Jim of Dudley, Louise H. Langevin and her husband David H. of Southbridge, Ann B. Sledzik and her fiancé James Murphy of Thompson, CT and Carol R. Gyftopoulas and her husband Nick of Greece; a brother, George Boulanger of Tularosa, NM; a sister, Lucille Peloquin of Southbridge; 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Albert, Raoul and Raymond Boulanger, all of Southbridge.
She was born and raised in Southbridge, a daughter of Alfred and Diana (Petit) Boulanger, and moved to Webster in 1946 when she married. She then returned to Southbridge two years ago. She attended the former Notre Dame High School in Southbridge.
Mrs. Sledzik worked at Bates Shoe Company for 18 years. She then was a folder at Cranston Print Works Company; she then was an assembler at Greeting Card Company, retiring in 1985.
She was a member of St. Louis Church and a former member of the Saint Louis League of Catholic Women. She loved playing pitch and was a lifelong New York Yankees fan.
The funeral will be held Friday, March 21, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Liturgy of the Word at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. Calling hours are from 6:00 to 9:00 PM Thursday, March 20, in the funeral home.
