Randy Bagley, 54, of Fitzgerald died Monday, March 17, 2008 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Friday, March 21, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. Tracy Swanson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Bagley was born December 6, 1953 in Ben Hill County to the late William Nathaniel and Latrelle Barrentine Bagley. He was the EMA Director for Ben Hill County, worked 14 years in law enforcement, has been a chief deputy for the Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Dept, an investigator with the sheriff’s dept. in Ben Hill and Crisp counties and also with the district attorneys office, an officer with the Fitzgerald Police Dept., a firefighter with the Ben Hill County Volunteer Fire Dept. and was former Human Resource Manager for Shaw Industries. He was a 1972 graduate of Dothan High School in Dothan, AL, where he also attended Wallace Junior College. He received certification as a Peace Officer from Georgia Police Academy at ABAC in Tifton and also attended the Georgia Police Academy in Forsyth. Mr. Bagley received his Quality System Auditor Training from Dalton College in Dalton, GA and received his managers training for Advance Auto Parts in Richmond, VA. He enjoyed drag racing, stock car racing, motorcycles, classic cars, hunting, fishing and golf. He assisted with recovery efforts in Slidell, LA., and Waveland and Bay St. Louis, MS., following Hurricane Katrina.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy D. Bagley of Fitzgerald; sons & daughters-in-law, Rusty & Jan Marie Bagley, Billy Bagley and B.J. & Misty Bagley all of Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Josh Avant and Caylyn Bagley; Sister, Mary Beth Verner of Spokane, WA; niece and nephew, Diane Rice and Daniel Moore both of Spokane, WA. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a grandchild, Noah Spangenberg.
