Creson Briggs Creson Briggs, 79, Clarksville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Alive Hospice, Nashville, TN. The funeral will be held at 2 pm Saturday at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Rev. David Forney officiating. Burial will be in Sango Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Friday and from noon until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born March 23, 1928 in Robertson County, TN son of the late Jewel Briggs and Cathenia Kinslow Briggs. Mr. Briggs was a retired State Farm Insurance Agent. He was a member of the 1945 CHS Football Team which is the only undefeated and untied team in CHS history. He played one year at Auburn University in 1946 and transferred to Austin Peay State College and played football and graduated from Austin Peay in 1951. He was active in civic organizations and politics. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife Jane Corlew Briggs, a son Carter Briggs (Pam), Clarksville; a daughter, Cindy Bryant (Kurt), Memphis, TN; a sister, Sadie Sacks (David), Los Alamitos, Calif; and five grandchildren: Elizabeth Bryant, Will Bryant, Paul Bryant, Emily Briggs, and Grace Briggs. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lafayette Briggs and infant sister, Sue Briggs. Pallbearers will be Paul Bryant, Will Bryant, Mark Briggs, Ernie Briggs, Ed Oliver, Jack Pruitte, David Sacks, Nate Sacks, and Mark Bookbinder. Honorary pallbearers will be Margot Highfill, Janet Lencse, Tammi Halliday, Russ Parchman, Mike Parchman, Hendricks Fox, Bill Gass, Jim Holmes, Frank Schindler, Vernon Wells, Bill Billips, Todd Chester, Mark Chester, and Virgil Chester.
