Obituary

Philip E. Hayes, 71, of Franklin, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at his home. He was the husband of Gail F. (Ward) Hayes for 50 years.

Born in Norwood on February 12, 1937, he was the son of the late Frederick and Catherine (Standish) Hayes. Mr. Hayes was a resident of Franklin for 50 years and wintered in Indian Shores, FL for many years.

Mr. Hayes was a graduate of Norwood High School and was a veteran of the Air Force serving for five years as an Air Policeman.

He was a union carpenter for Local #535 in Norwood for many years. He retired in 1997 as the Business Agent after serving for 12 years.

Mr. Hayes was an avid Red Sox and sports fan. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Robin D’Errico and her husband, Tony of N. Kingstown, RI and two sons, Michael Hayes and his wife, Jeannette of Burrillville, RI and Tim Hayes and his wife, Jeannie of Ballantine, MT.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Thursday, March 20 at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin at 12 Noon. Burial will take place privately at Hardwick Center Cemetery in Hardwick.

Calling hours are respectfully omitted.

Arrangements are under the care of the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin.
